MURALS, FORTS & “POWER DINING”
along the Ohio River National Scenic Byway

Saturday June 19, 2010

$94

The seat of Jefferson County, Steubenville, is known for its twenty-five murals, painted by Canadian and American artists, adorn many of the buildings and depict the colorful and industrious history of this area. Originally having been started with the construction of Fort Steuben to protect the newly-arriving settlers, the city was also the location of the first Federal Land Title Office where claims and deeds could be filed. We’ll be starting our visit here.

Along the way our guide will point out the hometown of Dino Crocetti, more popularly know as Dean Martin. Our luncheon will be at a former power facility, built in 1936, and designed to showcase the convenience of modern electricity. The interior is an example of Art Deco architecture popular during that period. We will make a brief stop at a local flea market.
